Permaculture Short course at Camden Adult Ed

January 19th, 2012

As we pour over seed catalogs this winter, it is a good time to begin dreaming and scheming for our gardens next year.  And the best way to begin the garden is with good design.  Of course, sustainability is on everyone’s mind these days, and so with that in mind I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be teaching an Introduction to Permaculture course through Camden Adult Ed.  We will focus on the subject of goals for the garden, design of the garden, and sustainability in the garden and how that connects to the rest of society.

This is how it should have read on the registration website:

Permaculture – the Art of Ecological Design

Permaculture is a design system and set of techniques for creating resilient human habitats and healthy ecosystems. It is modeled on ecological principles and takes into account food production, shelter, energy, water, wellness, community, culture and economics. In this abbreviated course students will gain the knowledge necessary to begin the process of designing their own home-scale permaculture garden systems. They will leave with a strong foundation for applying permaculture ethics and design principles. The instructor will walk students through a design process applicable to forest gardens, water management, earthworks, pattern literacy, and garden management.

Begins Wed 2/8 CHRHS Rm 223.  Wednesdays 6-8:  Feb 8, 15, 29 & Mar 7 (No class on Feb 22)

Registration is $25. Class size is limited to 12 so register early! To register, click here.
