Introduction to Permaculture @ Camden adult ed

Nevermind the snow outside.  Spring is nearly here and you can hear it in the bird song and see it in the leaf and flower buds.  Now is the time to start designing the garden for the coming growing season.  Good garden design that integrates both perennials and annuals is an important part of having long term success.  Of course, sustainability is on everyone’s mind these days, and so with that in mind I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be teaching another Introduction to Permaculture course through Camden Adult Ed.  We will focus on the subjects of goals for the garden, design of the garden, and sustainability in the garden and how that connects to the rest of society.

Permaculture – the Art of Ecological Design

In this abbreviated course students will gain the knowledge necessary to begin the process of designing their own home-scale permaculture garden systems. They will leave with a strong foundation in ecological literacy for applying permaculture ethics and design principles. The instructor will walk students through a design process applicable to forest gardens, water management, earthworks, pattern literacy, and garden management.
